Working-life hub

Working in Finland

Use this hub to understand the topics that often affect pay. Labour Finland publishes specific rates only after a source and validity period have been checked.

Employment contracts

A written contract is useful for recording the job, pay, working time and other agreed terms. Contract terms should be read together with any applicable collective agreement. Labour Finland does not review individual contracts.

Wages

A job title alone does not always identify one wage. Search an occupation to see whether a verified current figure has been published.

Collective agreements

In many sectors, minimum employment terms can come from an applicable collective agreement. Finland does not have one universal statutory euro minimum wage applying in the same way to every worker.

Working hours

Working-time rules can depend on law, an applicable agreement and the employment contract. Specific hour limits are not published here until they are verified for a defined situation.

Payslips

A payslip can help you compare the amount paid with the agreed wage, hours and any supplements. Keep copies and compare them with your contract and, where relevant, a collective-agreement wage scale.

Holidays and sick leave

Leave entitlements can depend on the employment relationship and applicable rules. Confirm current terms from the contract, agreement and relevant authority rather than from a general summary.

Ending employment

Notice periods and other end-of-employment terms vary. Labour Finland does not provide individualized employment advice.

Gross vs net salary

Labour Finland's calculator estimates gross pay only. It does not calculate income tax or take-home pay.

Where to get help

For official or case-specific questions, use the relevant Finnish authority, your employer, occupational safety actors, or an employee or employer organisation. Labour Finland is an independent information service and is not one of those bodies.
